Taiwan Viceroy Monopoly Bureau

In Taisho Year 11 (1922), the Taiwan Viceroy included alcohol in its monopoly system (which also included cigarettes, wine, opium, salt, camphor, matches, weights and measurements, petroleum), and prohibited private production of wine. The [Puli wine-manufacturing Kabushiki Kaisha] was purchased by the Taiwan Viceroy, and the last remaining wine production in Puli was the  “Puli Business Office Wine Factory,” managed by the Taiwan Viceroy Monopoly Bureau.”
