National Taxation Bureau of Kaohsiung( NTBK ), Ministry of Finance reminded those residents who suffered from losses caused by torrential rain to remember to apply for certificate of disaster losses, in order to claim deduction of 2017 individual income tax while getting recovery.
The NTBK further explained that people suffering from property losses shall report and request the tax authority to conduct an investigation within 30 days after a disaster happens.
A checklist of losses and evidential documents (such as pictures of damaged property, stated clearly with the location and the date of disaster) shall be prepared. If the amount of declared losses is less than NT$150,000, paper review may be applicable instead of on-site investigatio
Nevertheless, insurance benefit or relief, with regard to the disaster mentioned above, shall be subtracted from such amount of losses.
The NTBK suggested people, for the sake of convenience, to download the application forms, while making any further request on this issue, from the E-tax Portal website, Ministry of Finance（https://www.etax.nat.gov.tw）.
